HannahC: "I think Mommy is going to divorce you pretty soon."
Me, CherkyB: "Oh? Why is that?"
HannahC: "Well, I just think that."
Me, CherkyB: "Is there any particular reason you think that?"
HannahC: "Well, it's just that I think Momma really really wants to have a cat, because she loves cats so much. And I really love cats, too, and she wants me to have a cat. So, since you're allergic to cats, she'll have to divorce you to get a cat."
Me, CherkyB: "Hm."
HannahC: "But Rose [the next door neighbor's cat] comes over to visit a lot, and I can be OK with that, because I'd rather have a daddy than a cat."
Me, CherkyB: "Well, that's good to hear."
HannahC: "Yeah. And I'll work on Mommy to try to get her to play with Rose more so she doesn't have to divorce you."
Me, CherkyB: "Wonderful."
HannahC: "Yeah."

ReplyDeleteas much as i miss my cats, now that i have no cats i wonder if humans are meant to co-exist with them. i breathe and sleep a lot better now that i don't have them. and one realizes just how many people you exclude from your life and home by having them. hmmm, no wonder granny has two and permanent resident scruffie (who is really cute, by the way. . .)

Funny thing is, the original conversation went like this: "Mommy, why can't we have a cat?" "Because Daddy's allergic to cats. It's either a cat or a daddy." "Oh. I see. I'd guess I'd rather have a daddy." To which MaxieC retorted, "I'll take the cat!"
ReplyDeleteIn my case if it was a choice between a cat or a man who was allergic to cats, I would go out and get a few more cats.
ReplyDeleteScruffy at this point is semi- permanent. The weather is nice so she prefers the outside. She comes to visit every day and shows up for meals and then leaves again.
Your preference for cats is due to never having married a wonderful man like me.

Noah Strausser Speer Wyle (born June 4, 1971; last name pronounced /ˈwaɪli/) is a five time Emmy Award nominated American TV and film actor best known for his role as Dr. John Carter on the television drama ER.
Wyle was the only major cast member of ER to have been with the show since its inception when he left after its eleventh season. His performances on the show earned him Emmy Award nominations in each of its first five seasons, and (as part of an ensemble) several Screen Actors Guild Awards and nominations. Wyle left the series at the end of the 2004-2005 season, although he returned in guest appearances for four episodes in each of the next two seasons. He stated that he left because he wanted to spend more time with his family.
Wyle was born in Hollywood, California, to parents Stephen Wyle and Marjorie Speer, and was one of six children in a Reform Jewish home. He attended The Thacher School and graduated with the class of 1989. He married make-up artist Tracy Warbin on May 6, 2000. Together they have son Owen Strausser Wyle, born November 9, 2002 and daughter Auden Wyle, born October 15, 2005. He and his family are vegetarians.
Participated in a theater arts program at Northwestern University during high school and appeared in high school plays. After graduation he learned from acting teacher Larry Moss while living in a small apartment on Hollywood Boulevard. His first parts were a mini-series and featuring in the movie Crooked Hearts (1991) in 1990. In 1990 he worked in another feature, "There Goes My Baby." After appearing in several local plays in Los Angeles, he was cast in the box-office hit "A Few Good Men," in which he played a Marine jeep driver who testified in court. He also appeared in the feature "Swing Kids" as a leader in the Hitler Youth, and in the upcoming "The Myth of Fingerprints" with Roy Scheier and Blythe Danner. Additionally, he starred as Lancelot opposite Sheryl Lee in the TV movie "Guinevere of Camelot".
